Our aim is to introduce you to the fascinating world of surfing. At La Flow we teach people of all ages to surf — kids and adults who want to have fun, get to know the sea and make friends.

La Flow Surf School is based in Tarifa, the southernmost town in mainland Spain, but we operate all along the Costa de la Luz in the province of Cádiz. Is surfing safe for children in Tarifa?
Yes. At La Flow Surf School we work with qualified instructors and adapt every lesson to the student’s level, especially in children’s surf lessons. We use safe soft-top boards and wetsuits, and choose areas with controlled conditions to guarantee a safe, fun experience.
What does a surf lesson in Tarifa include?
Everything you need is included: surfboard, wetsuit, professional instructor and insurance. You don’t need to bring anything else — just the desire to enjoy surfing in Tarifa.
What happens if there are no waves on the day of my lesson?
If the sea conditions aren’t right, we adapt the lesson or suggest a different day or time. Our goal is for you to have the best possible experience, always safely.
Where do the surf lessons take place?
Lessons take place on different beaches around Tarifa, chosen each day according to the wind and sea conditions. Before the activity we’ll send you the exact meeting point.
How long is a surf lesson?
Sessions last roughly 1.5 to 2 hours, combining theory on the sand with practice in the water.
Are photos or videos taken during lessons?
Yes, we occasionally create content for social media and our website. Where minors are involved, we always ask for prior consent from parents or legal guardians.
Do I need any previous experience to surf?
No. Our lessons are designed for complete beginners as well as experienced surfers. If it’s your first time, we’ll teach you from scratch so you can enjoy surfing from day one.
When is the best time of year to surf in Tarifa?
Tarifa offers surfable conditions all year round. In summer the waves tend to be gentler — ideal for beginners — while at other times of the year you’ll find more varied conditions for every level.
That said, Tarifa is famous for its winds (the Levante and the Poniente), which can be a challenge on certain days as they affect the state of the sea. It doesn’t mean you can’t surf, but sometimes we do need to adapt the lesson.
At La Flow Surf School we plan every day around the conditions to give you the best possible experience. If you ask us to, or if conditions in Tarifa aren’t at their best, we can head to nearby spots along the coast such as El Palmar or Barbate, where the sea is often cleaner.
Our goal is simple: a great surf session for you, whatever the wind is doing.
